Obstacles

I was fighting the Prawn Master, and I had one of my companions breaking a crystal (Just 1) and then I wanted another companion to break a crystal, but it wouldn't let me, I tried breaking 2 obstacles in 1 turn (Having 1 companion breaking 1 thing, and another breaking another thing) but it would not work, is this intended, or a glitch?
